The company is able to draw on the support and specialist expertise from Costain Energy & Process in the UK, which is a world leader in process engineering in the oil & gas sector.  Additional financial support and construction know how is provided by their parent company Costain Group.

Costain's history on Das Island goes back to 1974 when it was involved in the initial infrastructure development on the island, which is situated 180 km away from the city.  Over the years the company has executed numerous projects all over the island including design and construction of oil production facilties and erection and maintenance of LNG trains.  Since 1995 the company has carried out a series of term contracts with ADGAS for the overhaul of its process plants.

The company employs more than 1200 personnel of 10 different nationalities with a large percentage of them working on Das Island.  The head office is based in Mussafah (Abu Dhabi) which has access to 20,000 sq mts of yard space with a private jetty facility to enable transportation of material to Das Island by barge.

Costain's has a flexible approach to contractual obligations, allowing a form of contract to be drawn up which is best suited to client requirements. Working closely with clients from the outset enables the most appropriate technology to be selected and applied effectively.

The company implements IBP (Implementing Best Practice) to have a skilled team on every project working on a common management system, using common tools to provide a consistent approach.
